Daisy

Daisy @ HAC

UPDATE – March 25/17 After spending the night at the vet, it was determined that Daisy is not pregnant. Her “pot belly” is likely being caused by her bowel issues. The tests done at the clinic showed that there were no obvious reasons for her poopy bum, other than there was a lot of bacteria found in the sample. So, she was put on medication and a special diet that will hopefully help with that. We do know for sure that she is FIV and FeLV free though! Yay! Daisy is now settling in at her foster home, and her…   read more >>

Jefferson

Jefferson @ HAC

Jefferson was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by his owners because they had “no time” for him. Sadly, it seems he had not been properly fed in his previous home as he was emaciated and skeletal thin at the time of his surrender. As well, his nails were overgrown and the fur on his hind end was matted and severely urine stained. Despite his condition, Jefferson was extremely friendly with everyone he met and was always happy for attention and head pats. During the couple of weeks Jefferson spent at HAC, he gained some weight back, and thankfully it seems…   read more >>

Grace

Grace @ HAC

Grace came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray, and she was in really rough shape when she first got there. This is how the animal control officer described Grace’s condition when she was picked up: “Emaciated, hungry, overgrown nails, matted, hair loss and bruising from pulling out mats.” Either Grace was severely neglected before she was abandoned outdoors to fend for herself, or she had been outdoors on her own for so long, her health and physical condition had deteriorated to this sad and painful state. We’re thankful someone was kind enough to call to report finding Grace before…   read more >>

Juniper

Juniper @ HAC

Juniper came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. She’s a very sweet cat, and so pretty! We took Juniper straight from HAC to the vet, where she had an ultrasound that showed “bubbles” in her abdomen. The vet wasn’t 100% sure if Juniper was pregnant or not, so she has a second ultrasound  a little more than a week later, and those bubbles were indeed kittens! We’re so happy Juniper is out of the shelter and can have her babies in the warmth and comfort of her foster home. We’ll keep you updated on how Juniper is doing and…   read more >>

Metro

Metro @ foster - photo by Cyndi Ingle

* Metro found his forever home with lovely people! * Hamilton Animal Control were called when a member of the public discovered a cat in a reusable grocery bag, abandoned in an underground parking lot. It’s not known how long Metro had been in the garage, nor why someone would choose to abandon him in this way, but we’re glad he ended up at Animal Control and did not suffer a worse fate. We were happy to rescue Metro from HAC when his stray time was done, and we took him to the vet for a check-up and to be neutered….   read more >>

Tao

Tao @ vet

February 13th, 2017 – Update Our hearts are broken… Tao did well in his foster home over the weekend. His foster mom reported that Tao was eating well, playing with toys, and following people around the house to be picked up and cuddled. He had a great weekend being spoiled. But this morning, Tao’s breathing became seriously laboured. His foster mom brought him to the vet where they could drain the fluid from his lungs again, but the fluid had become so thick, it was difficult to aspirate. Tao was not doing well, and there weren’t many options left to…   read more >>

Millie

Millie @ foster

We rescued Millie from Hamilton Animal Control. She came into HAC as a stray, but nobody came looking for her if she was truly a missing cat. Millie is a lovely girl. She’s a bit shy, but once she’s comfortable, she will give out as many head bonks as you want! Millie had a dental cleaning at the vet, and her blood results showed there were no issues. Other than some of her fur being matted that the vet took care of, she’s a healthy girl. Here’s a note from Millie’s foster home: “Millie is a shy but very loving…   read more >>

Fiona

Fiona @ foster

We rescued Fiona from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Fiona is such a sweetheart! Lots of head bonks and purrs for everyone she meets. We took her to the vet for a much needed dental cleaning, and she did very well. We are awaiting blood work results, but the vet thought she was pretty healthy for a senior girl. Fiona will be available for adoption soon!

Eva

Eva

Zsa Zsa and Eva were rescued from a North Bay shelter where they ended up after being removed from a massive hoarding situation. They’re shy little ratties, but their foster family are helping them be more comfortable with handling, and they’ve come quite far already. They love each other very much, so we’re asking they be adopted as a pair. Eva has a head tilt, but she functions normally. Our vets have advised that it’s possible the tilt will stay the same and she will live a lovely, long life despite her disability. Or, there is a chance that the…   read more >>

Debbie

Debbie

We received 12 rats from a North Bay shelter who were originally removed from a hoarding situation. Debbie gave birth to nine babies on January 9th. She did a great job raising her babies and now they are all ready to find their forever homes! Debbie is a shy rat and will need an adopter who is willing to take the time to help her become more comfortable with being handled. Debbie would not be a suitable rat for small children. Rats do best in pairs and/or groups, so we are asking that Debbie be adopted with her daughters Mary…   read more >>

Harriet

Harriet - photo by Willowbean Photography

We rescued Harriet from Hamilton Animal Control. She was found as a stray. Her nails were very overgrown and her underside was quite matted. Seems as if poor Harriet wasn’t properly looked after before she was abandoned by her owners. Harriet has now healed from her spay surgery, so she’s looking for her forever home! Here’s a note from Harriet’s foster home: “Harriet is an adorable bunny who loves to explore new places and meet new furry friends. She is great with her foster siblings, a dog and two cats. If they invade her space then she will let them know….   read more >>
