Tao

Tao @ vet

February 13th, 2017 – Update Our hearts are broken… Tao did well in his foster home over the weekend. His foster mom reported that Tao was eating well, playing with toys, and following people around the house to be picked up and cuddled. He had a great weekend being spoiled. But this morning, Tao’s breathing became seriously laboured. His foster mom brought him to the vet where they could drain the fluid from his lungs again, but the fluid had become so thick, it was difficult to aspirate. Tao was not doing well, and there weren’t many options left to…   read more >>

Millie

Millie @ foster

We rescued Millie from Hamilton Animal Control. She came into HAC as a stray, but nobody came looking for her if she was truly a missing cat. Millie is a lovely girl. She’s a bit shy, but once she’s comfortable, she will give out as many head bonks as you want! Millie had a dental cleaning at the vet, and her blood results showed there were no issues. Other than some of her fur being matted that the vet took care of, she’s a healthy girl. Here’s a note from Millie’s foster home: “Millie is a shy but very loving…   read more >>

Fiona

Fiona @ foster

We rescued Fiona from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Fiona is such a sweetheart! Lots of head bonks and purrs for everyone she meets. We took her to the vet for a much needed dental cleaning, and she did very well. We are awaiting blood work results, but the vet thought she was pretty healthy for a senior girl. Fiona will be available for adoption soon!

Eva

Eva

Zsa Zsa and Eva were rescued from a North Bay shelter where they ended up after being removed from a massive hoarding situation. They’re shy little ratties, but their foster family are helping them be more comfortable with handling, and they’ve come quite far already. They love each other very much, so we’re asking they be adopted as a pair. Eva has a head tilt, but she functions normally. Our vets have advised that it’s possible the tilt will stay the same and she will live a lovely, long life despite her disability. Or, there is a chance that the…   read more >>

Debbie

Debbie

We received 12 rats from a North Bay shelter who were originally removed from a hoarding situation. Zsa Zsa and Eva are young adults, and Debbie, who gave birth to 9 babies on January 9th. She did a great job raising her babies and now they are all ready to find their forever homes! Debbie is a shy rat and will need an adopter who is willing to take the time to help her become more comfortable with being handled. Debbie would not be a suitable rat for small children. Rats do best in pairs and/or groups, so we are…   read more >>

Harriet

Harriet - photo by Willowbean Photography

We rescued Harriet from Hamilton Animal Control. She was found as a stray. Her nails were very overgrown and her underside was quite matted. Seems as if poor Harriet wasn’t properly looked after before she was abandoned by her owners. Harriet has now healed from her spay surgery, so she’s looking for her forever home! Here’s a note from Harriet’s foster home: “Harriet is an adorable bunny who loves to explore new places and meet new furry friends. She is great with her foster siblings, a dog and two cats. If they invade her space then she will let them know….   read more >>

Happy new year!

2016

2016 is almost at an end, and what a year it has been! We rescued 129 animals this year, and this video features just twelve of them. It was hard to narrow down only one animal for each month that they were rescued…so many amazing animals to choose from! Thank you so much for your continued support. We couldn’t have rescued any of these animals without you. All the best to you, your families and your furry friends in 2017! Happy new year!

We are reviewing each application as they come in and will be in touch with potential adopters as soon as we can. Thank you for your interest in adopting our sweet Holly! Candy

Candy - photo by phurtography.ca

We rescued Star and Candy from Hamilton Animal Control. Star and Candy were surrendered to animal control when their owner moved. They are sweet and affectionate kitties, and they are quite bonded to each other. We don’t know for certain, but we are pretty sure that Candy is Star’s mom. While at the shelter, Candy had to have an emergency spay surgery when she developed pyrometra . She came through the surgery well and is feeling much better now. We had Star spayed, and now that they’re both healed from their surgeries, Star and Candy are ready to find their…   read more >>

Noelle

Noelle @ foster

We rescued Noelle from Hamilton Animal Control. Noelle came into HAC as a stray. She’s a sweet and active girl, and so pretty! Noelle had a visit to the vet to be spayed, and all went well. She’s now settled in at her foster home and ready to be adopted! Here’s a note from Noelle’s foster home: “Noelle has been with us for almost 2 months now, and I would say it has taken her that amount of time to truly start to attach – she meows when she’s alone and hears us outside her room, rubbing and purring up…   read more >>

Graham

Graham rescue day

We rescued Graham from Hamilton Animal Control. Graham came into HAC as a stray. He was quite matted when he arrived at HAC, and had some missing fur, likely from an allergy. He has some back end weakness, and a few lumps and bumps as many older dogs do. But despite these issues, Graham is beyond sweet and friendly. Such a happy boy! Graham came through his lump removal surgery like a champ and while in his foster home, his fur started to grow back and he gained some of the mobility in his back end. His foster home reported…   read more >>

Sushi

Sushi @ foster

Sushi was rescued from Hamilton Animal Control where she was brought in as a stray. She’s a shy, but sweet girl…very gentle and loving. We had Sushi spayed and she’s now ready to start the next chapter of her life with a new adventure! Here’s a note from Sushi’s foster home: “Best cat ever. There’s nothing fishy about it, Sushi (aka Katy Purry) is a true lady. She has impeccable manners and is very gentle. She’s not crazy fussy about being picked up and carried around as she prefers getting around on her own four feet but she adores attention…   read more >>

Barley

Barley @ foster

We rescued Barley from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up as a stray. Poor Barley has many scrapes and scabs, and had clearly not been very well cared for…if cared for at all. Could be that he had been outdoors on his own for some time. We’ll never know for sure. Either way, we got Barley to safety in his foster home. We had him to the vet to be neutered and blood tested. Barley is FIV and FeLV free! Despite the poor condition he was in when we rescued him, Barley is a sweet boy…happy to have some…   read more >>
