Status: Adoptable
Age: Approximately 12 years
Arrival Date: December 29, 2012
Species: Dog
Gender: Neutered male
Likes: Sleeping, snuggling in blankets, short walks, playing, dancing, rubs and pats…
Dislikes: Other animals in his personal space
Notes: This sweet old boy found himself at Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. He’s probably around 12 years old, has rotten teeth, a heart murmur, his ears were packed with dirt, his nails were so long that they curled under his pads, and he was in desperate need of a grooming (i.e. he had a lot of matting and a poopy bum!) But he saw the vet and groomer and he’s feeling much better! Teddy’s heart murmur and arthritis are both being treated with medication which he will need to be on for the rest of his life. Because of his murmur, surgery would have been very high-risk, so we opted not to do any dental work. His breath is a little stinky, but he makes up for it with his smile! Teddy’s foster home reports that he is not a “barker” as many little dogs can be. He will let you know when he needs to go outside, and when he wants back in. He sleeps like a champ and he’ll do little dances for you when he’s happy…which is all the time! Teddy would probably do best in a home with no other animals, though he is tolerating the ones in his foster home. He does get along with them, but doesn’t appreciate them being in his personal space. Because of his arthritis, Teddy would be more comfortable with shorter walks. No long distance marathons or mountain hikes for him! Teddy would make a wonderful companion for someone who can appreciate that he is in his senior years, and that he enjoys life at a slower pace.
