Sheamus
Sheamus came to Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. No owner came forward to claim him, so Ladybird was happy to spring this sweet boy from the shelter when a loving foster home opened up. While in shelter, staff noticed that one of his front feet was a bit wonky. The had an x-ray done, which appeared to show nothing conclusive.
On Sheamus’ rescue day we had the vet do another x-ray on his ankle to find out what was ‘afoot’ with his foot. Luckily it showed no fracture and they believe he may have had a puncture wound at some point. He’s on antibiotics for the next couple of weeks to clear up any possible infection. He was also neutered while at his appointment.
Sheamus is a big lover of laps. If there is a lap to be napped in, he will be all over it. He loves human attention and seems playfully curious about the other animals in his foster home on the other side of his foster room door. We’re still getting to know more about this sweet, friendly boy and will have another update from his foster family soon.
Welcome to Ladybird, Sheamus! We’re so happy you’re here.
UPDATE: April 18th, 2024
Sheamus is thriving in his foster home and is a big snuggle bug and very playful. We’re still concerned about his toe as his x-rays have been inconclusive. His vets were uncertain about whether or not there is infection in the bone. Swelling of the toe does appear to be improving with antibiotics and a steady regime of coconut oil applied to the callous. The potential for a surgical digit amputation has been tabled, but so far Sheamus doesn’t appear bothered at all by his foot issue and is just a happy, energetic kitty! At his most recent appointment he was put on drops for an ear infection that recently popped up.
Sheamus seems ok with the older dog in his foster home, and doesn’t seem bothered much by the other kitties there. His foster mom thinks he’ll be fine with other animals as long as measures for gentle introductions are taken. Hopefully we can get Sheamus’ ear infection and toe swelling cleared up soon, so he can start the search for his forever home!
