Clarence

Rest in peace Clarence

MARCH 6/2018 We lost our sweet Clarence today. Back in August, we took in Clarence and ‘sister’ Alabama with the knowledge that they were both Feline Leukemia positive. With FeLV, one can never know whether the cat will stay happy and healthy for a long time (like our very first rescue, Oliver) or if they’ll get sick often and not live very long. Sadly, the latter was the case with Clarence. We want to thank Clarence’s foster mom for caring for him and loving him right to the end. Rest In Peace Clarence. We will never forget your sweet face….   read more >>

Tabitha

Tabitha @ HAC

Tabitha was brought to Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. She has been declawed, so if she was truly a stray, whoever owned her didn’t come to the shelter looking for her. Tabitha had been at the shelter for a month before we were finally able to rescue her. During the month she was with us, Tabitha had issues with mobility and with her bowels. Along with this, she had not been eating well, despite different medications and special foods to help stimulate her appetite. We knew from x-rays that Tabitha had severe arthritis in her back and knees. Surgery…   read more >>

Sydney

Sydney @ foster

* Sydney found her forever home with a lovely person! *   Sydney came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. Because she was so rail thin, we had her tested for FIV and FeLV and both were negative. Yay! Our vets are not sure why Sydney was so skinny, but her foster home did a great job of getting some much needed weight onto her. We had Sydney spayed, and she healed very well in her foster home. Now she’s ready to find her forever home! Here’s a report from Sydney’s foster home: “Sydney is a beautiful green eyed…   read more >>

Sydney Wood Foundation donation

Sydney Wood Foundation donation

Earlier this week we received a generous donation from the most beautiful family foundation. Sydney Wood Purple Butterfly of Hope Foundation was created by the Wood family after the very sudden loss of their daughter, Sydney (11), in 2012. The foundation raises funds through community events and then donates to various community causes that Sydney likely would have backed. We’re honoured to have the support of this selfless foundation to honour the memory of a truly incredible person. We’d like to extend love and thanks to Sue, Greg, Mallory and Kamryn for your generosity and kindness. We’re certain that Sydney is so…   read more >>

Eloise

Eloise @ foster

* Eloise has been adopted by her foster home! Yay! * Back in May, Eloise came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. About a month into her stay at HAC, Eloise had to be rushed to the vet as she was suffering from what was thought to be pyometra (an infection of the uterus), but it turned out, Eloise was pregnant and was having trouble giving birth. While at the vet, clinic staff helped her deliver one kitten who had gotten stuck feet first in the birth canal. Unfortunately, the kitten was underdeveloped, and didn’t survive. This was the only…   read more >>

Duke of Purr

Mister Purrison and Duke of Purr have been adopted together! Yay!   Duke of Purr, Mister Purrison and four other kittens were found as strays and brought into Hamilton Animal Control. We weren’t planning on rescuing these guys, but when we were at the shelter to rescue Eloise, we took one look at them in their cage and knew we couldn’t leave without these little darlings! The kittens had their initial check-up at the vet, and they were relatively healthy, other than some poopy bums and feet from a few *accidents* in the carrier on the way to the vet….   read more >>

Willow

* Waffles and Willow have been adopted by their foster home! Yay! * Waffles, Willow and 8 other rabbits were surrendered to Toronto Animal Services by their owner.  TAS reached out to a number of rescue organizations for help, and when a foster home opened up, we were happy to take in this sweet pair. Waffles and Willow have been fixed (thank you TAS!) and they’re now ready to find their forever home! Willow can often be found nestled into Waffles’ fur and they’re very bonded, so they must be adopted as a pair. Here’s a report from their foster…   read more >>

Mouse

Mouse - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Mouse found her forever home with her foster family! *   Mouse came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. She was riddled with fleas, one of her eyes was crusted shut, and she was rail thin. Poor little girl was not having a good time at all! HAC staff put her on medication for her eye and she was given a flea treatment, which made her feel a bit better. When Mouse’s stray time was done, we were happy to rescue her from HAC and get her into the vet. Our vets put Mouse on medication for an…   read more >>

Tank

* Tank found his forever home with an awesome person! Yay! * Meet Tank Cat! He’s gigantic and awesome! All 25 pounds of him! Sweet Tank came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. Not sure how a cat as big as Tank ends up on the streets…especially since he doesn’t want to take more than a few steps before he lays down for a rest…but we digress. Tank came into HAC as a stray and nobody came looking for him. When he arrived at the shelter, he was very (very) matted. HAC staff did their best to shave off…   read more >>

Jon Snow

* Jon Snow’s foster mom decided she couldn’t let him go, so she officially adopted him! Yay for Jon Snow! * Jon Snow came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. This poor guy was in pretty rough shape when he arrived. He was very thin and his fur was in terrible condition. During the two months he spent at HAC, he put on weight and his fur regained its softness and shine. When a Ladybird foster home opened up, we were happy to get Jon Snow out of the shelter and into a safe place where he can continue…   read more >>

Leo

* Leo found his forever home with a lovely person, and another pig to be friends with! * Leo was surrendered to a shelter in Quebec by his owners because they didn’t have time for him. We’d like to send a big thank you out to the volunteers of Freedom Drivers Animal Rescue Transports for getting Leo to us safe and sound all the way from Quebec! Leo has had some digestive issues since his arrival. He’ll go many days with normal poop, then have mushy poop. He’s had several vet visits to try to sort out the issue, but our…   read more >>

* Ozzie found his forever home with a lovely family, and another pig to be friends with! We’d like to send a big thank you out to the volunteers of Freedom Drivers Animal Rescue Transports for getting Ozzie to us safe and sound all the way from Quebec! Conan

Conan @ foster

* Conan found his forever home with lovely people! * Conan (O’Kitten) came into Hamilton Animal Control all by himself as a stray. Poor little guy was so scared and alone! During his first few days at the shelter, Conan had the runs pretty severely. Who knows what this wee waif was eating while he was out on the streets that upset his tummy so badly. HAC staff dewormed Conan and ran a fecal test, but no parasites were found. As the days went on, Conan’s poops were more formed and he seemed to be feeling better. We rescued Conan…   read more >>
