Mary

Mary

* Debbie, Mary and Berry found their forever home together with a wonderful family! * We received 12 rats from a North Bay shelter who were originally removed from a hoarding situation. Debbie gave birth to nine babies on January 9th. She did a great job raising her babies and now they are all ready to find their forever homes! Debbie is a shy rat and will need an adopter who is willing to take the time to help her become more comfortable with being handled. Debbie would not be a suitable rat for small children. Rats do best in…   read more >>

Carrie

Carrie and Cherry found their forever home together! Yay! We took in twelve rats from a North Bay shelter who were originally removed from a hoarding situation. Debbie (Carrie and Cherry’s mom), gave birth to nine babies on January 9th. She did a great job raising her babies and now they are all ready to find their forever homes! Rats do best in pairs and/or groups, so we are asking that Carrie and Cherry be adopted as a pair. They are shy rats, but warm up quickly when handled gently and with patience. The girls enjoy exploring, and their daily…   read more >>

Harriet

Harriet - photo by Willowbean Photography

Harriet found her forever home with a lovely family! We rescued Harriet from Hamilton Animal Control. She was found as a stray. Her nails were very overgrown and her underside was quite matted. Seems as if poor Harriet wasn’t properly looked after before she was abandoned by her owners. Harriet has now healed from her spay surgery, so she’s looking for her forever home! Here’s a note from Harriet’s foster home: “Harriet is an adorable bunny who loves to explore new places and meet new furry friends. She is great with her foster siblings, a dog and two cats. If they…   read more >>

Happy new year!

2016

2016 is almost at an end, and what a year it has been! We rescued 129 animals this year, and this video features just twelve of them. It was hard to narrow down only one animal for each month that they were rescued…so many amazing animals to choose from! Thank you so much for your continued support. We couldn’t have rescued any of these animals without you. All the best to you, your families and your furry friends in 2017! Happy new year!

Holly

January 26th, 2019 We let our sweet Holly go today. Holly’s foster mom wrote a beautiful tribute to her: “Two years & 26 days is not a long time to have a dog. In fact, she wasn’t even ours. She was a @ladybirdanimalsanctuary resident. She came to us as a foster dog who had been through hell & we did our best to give her heaven; warm beds, fresh food & water, so much love & some other furry friends for her to cuddle with. A few months in we found out she had a rare cancer that was impossible…   read more >>

** Star and Candy found their forever home with lovely people! ** We rescued Star and Candy from Hamilton Animal Control. Star and Candy were surrendered to animal control when their owner moved. They are sweet and affectionate kitties, and they are quite bonded to each other. We don’t know for certain, but we are pretty sure that Candy is Star’s mom. While at the shelter, Candy had to have an emergency spay surgery when she developed pyometra . She came through the surgery well and is feeling much better now. We had Star spayed, and now that they’re both…   read more >>

Noelle

Noelle - photo by Ted Buck

* Noelle found her forever home with lovely people! Yay! * We rescued Noelle from Hamilton Animal Control. Noelle came into HAC as a stray. She’s a sweet and active girl, and so pretty! Noelle had a visit to the vet to be spayed, and all went well. She’s now settled in at her foster home and ready to be adopted! In early March, Noelle’s foster mom noticed that she wasn’t eating and didn’t seem to be herself. She took Noelle to the vet and by the time they got to the clinic, Noelle was drooling and lethargic. The clinic…   read more >>

Graham

Graham rescue day

We rescued Graham from Hamilton Animal Control. Graham came into HAC as a stray. He was quite matted when he arrived at HAC, and had some missing fur, likely from an allergy. He had back end weakness, and a few lumps and bumps as many older dogs do. But despite these issues, Graham was beyond sweet and friendly. Such a happy boy! Graham came through his lump removal surgery like a champ and while in his foster home, his fur started to grow back and he gained some of the mobility in his back end. His foster home reported that…   read more >>

Sushi

Sushi @ foster

Sushi was rescued from Hamilton Animal Control where she was brought in as a stray. She’s a shy, but sweet girl…very gentle and loving. We had Sushi spayed and she’s now ready to start the next chapter of her life with a new adventure! Here’s a note from Sushi’s foster home: “Best cat ever. There’s nothing fishy about it, Sushi (aka Katy Purry) is a true lady. She has impeccable manners and is very gentle. She’s not crazy fussy about being picked up and carried around as she prefers getting around on her own four feet but she adores attention…   read more >>

Barley

Barley @ foster

We rescued Barley from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up as a stray. Poor Barley has many scrapes and scabs, and had clearly not been very well cared for…if cared for at all. Could be that he had been outdoors on his own for some time. We’ll never know for sure. Either way, we got Barley to safety in his foster home. We had him to the vet to be neutered and blood tested. Barley is FIV and FeLV free! Despite the poor condition he was in when we rescued him, Barley is a sweet boy…happy to have some…   read more >>

*Doodle Frank found his forever home with lovely people! * We rescued Frank from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Frank loves people and he is such a happy boy! When you come home you will find him waiting with a big smile, wagging his tail. Spanky

Spanky @ foster

Spanky found his forever home with lovely people!   We rescued Spanky from Hamilton Animal Control. Spanky was surrendered to animal control when his owner moved to a seniors home. Spanky is a sweet guy. Shy, but he likes to head bonk and purr. We noticed that Spanky was drooling quite a lot, and when we got him to the vet, it was pretty obvious why. Some of his teeth are missing…some are almost falling out and a couple of them are quite rotten. We got him the dental surgery he so desperately needed, and now he’s feeling great, and…   read more >>

Abba

Abba @ HAC

* Abba found her forever home with lovely people! * We rescued Abba from Hamilton Animal Control. Abba was brought into HAC as a stray. HAC staff found that she had a microchip, but when they called the chip company to try to find her owners, the chip was not registered to anyone. And unfortunately, the organization who had originally implanted the chip had not kept any records.
