Buttercup

Buttercup

We rescued Buttercup from Hamilton Animal Control. Her owners signed her over to HAC because of allergies in the family. Soon after Buttercup’s arrival at HAC, it was discovered that the underside of her entire back end was one big mass of poop and the surrounding skin was urine scalded and red. Clearly, her owners were not looking after her properly before they brought her into HAC. Underneath all that poop, Buttercup’s bum and genitals were extremely red and swollen. It must have been so painful! We took Buttercup straight from HAC to the vet. She was put on two…   read more >>

Bogart

Bogart

We rescued Bogart from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. He was already neutered, so at one time he belonged to someone, but nobody ever came looking for him when he ended up at HAC. Bogart was very thin and his coat wasn’t in the best condition. He had a couple of vet visits, and his foster home did a great job of getting some weight on him.  Blood tests came back normal, and our vets gave us the go-ahead to make him available for adoption! Bogart is a real purr monster! Such a sweetie this…   read more >>

Ocean

Ocean

We rescued Ocean from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Ocean is just the friendliest kitty you ever did meet! Happy feet and head bonks are her favourite things! We took Ocean straight from HAC to the vet where it was discovered that Ocean is already spayed. There was a large lump next to her spay scar which is in indication that she likely strained that area shortly after her spay surgery, but the hernia was never repaired by her previous owners. Ocean also needed most of her teeth removed as they were so decayed. It also looked…   read more >>

Holly

Holly

Ladybird rescued Holly from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. We were told that Holly had been hit by a car and was suffering from a broken tooth and some slight injuries to her mouth when she was picked up by animal control officers. Holly received minor vet care and was sent back to the shelter on pain medication to wait out her stray time. Despite her injuries, Holly was very friendly toward all the shelter staff and always had a head bonk and happy feet for everyone. When a foster home opened up, we were…   read more >>

Pickle

Pickle adopted

Ladybird rescued Pickle from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Pickle is pretty much blind, had a bad case of “dry eye,” horrible teeth and a large growth in her genital area. All these issues may be why her owners abandoned her, but we’ll never know for sure. Despite her medical conditions, Pickle is a happy dog and is sweet as pie! We took Pickle straight from HAC to Guelph Animal Hospital where Dr. Fleming was waiting to fix up her teeth and remove the growth. While Pickle was under anesthetic, it was discovered that she…   read more >>

Ace

Ace

We rescued Ace from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. When Ace first came into HAC, he had such a severe ear infection that puss was pouring out of his ear and maggots were found inside. Gross! Poor Ace must have been suffering and in pain for a long time! Animal Control got him some basic vet care that mostly cleaned up his ear, but Ace was left with a tilted head. We rescued Ace from HAC and took him to the vet where he was neutered and his ears flushed out. Medication and love from…   read more >>

Tapioca

Tapioca

Ladybird rescued Timbit and Tapioca from a high-volume shelter in Laval, Quebec. The shelter didn’t provide us any info on them, so we’re not sure their ages, but they’re lovely little birds! Timbit and Tapioca are lovely little budgies, but they’re not too keen on being handled by people. Their foster family is working on that now and we’re hoping they’ll warm up to the idea. They do enjoy each other’s company and we are asking that they be adopted as a pair. Timbit and Tapioca found their forever home together with a lovely person! Thank you to the volunteers at…   read more >>

Phoebe

Phoebe @ foster

We rescued Phoebe from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. She clearly belonged to someone at some point, as she came into HAC spayed and declawed. But even after being at HAC for almost two months, nobody came looking for her.  When she arrived at HAC, Phoebe’s back end was very matted and had to be shaved. The matting was likely happening because she is overweight and isn’t able to turn enough to groom herself in that area. She had bad dandruff as well. It’s obvious that Phoebe didn’t have the best care wherever she was…   read more >>

Quigley

Quigley @ HAC

Ladybird rescued Quigley from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. During his time at HAC, he became very ill with an upper respiratory virus and was so sick for a few days, he had to be force fed and have subQ fluids administered by HAC staff. He came through it though and then his friendly personality came shining! Quigley is just about the sweetest guy you could ever meet. Never stops purring and is happy to hand out head bonks to everyone he meets. He is a fairly large cat (around 17 pounds) and he has…   read more >>

Dandelion

Dandelion

* Dandelion found her forever home with a wonderful person! * We rescued Dandelion from Hamilton Animal Control. A few days before Dandelion came into the shelter, four other degus were found in an alleyway and brought to Hamilton Animal Control. They were all suffering from dehydration and were skeletal thin. Unfortunately, despite HAC’s best efforts, they didn’t survive. The next day, a citizen living in the same area where the degus were found, watched a child throw something into his garbage can, then walk away. The citizen investigated and found Dandelion inside. Dandelion was in almost as rough shape…   read more >>

Susie

Susie @ HAC

Ladybird rescued Susie from Hamilton Animal Control. Susie was a “trap cat”, meaning a citizen who baits a live trap on their property caught her in the trap and brought her into HAC. Technically Susie is a stray, but she’s a very, very friendly girl, so we know she belonged to someone at some point. Sadly, nobody came forward to claim her. The staff at HAC noticed that Susie was favouring her back leg. In a general check-over, the visiting HAC vet proposed that the leg had broken and was healing…but not in a good way. Susie was put on…   read more >>

Sugar

Sugar

Ladybird rescued Dumpling, Sprout and Sugar from Hamilton Animal Control. They were brought in by their owners (along with several other cats) because there were too many cats in the home. Sugar and Sprout are just the sweetest babies. They purr non-stop and head bonk everyone they meet. They are quite bonded to each other and you’ll find them playing and sleeping together. So darn cute! Sugar and Sprout found their forever home together! Yay!

Gloria

Gloria @ foster

Ladybird rescued Gloria and her 2 week old babies from Hamilton Animal Control where they found themselves as strays. Unfortunately, we lost one of Gloria’s babies to illness, but with the help of our vets and her foster mom, Gloria raised her remaining babies well and now she’s ready to find her forever home! Here’s what Gloria’s foster mom has to say about her: “Little Gloria was an attentive, vigilant mom to her babies but now that they are weaned she is ready to start being a playful, pampered pet again. This bright-eyed beauty is just barely two years old, still so young…   read more >>
