* Mowgli found his forever home with an awesome family!* Ladybird rescued Mowgli from a high-kill shelter in Laval, Quebec. Mowgli is a very friendly cockatiel! Jethro
We rescued Jazz and Jethro from Hamilton Animal Control where they ended up as strays. These two are just the funniest, sweetest little cats. And so cute to boot! They both purr like crazy and love to be loved. Jazz is significantly smaller than her brother Jethro, but they’re both healthy and happy and ready to find their forever home. Jazz and Jethro must be adopted as a pair as they have a very close bond. Jazz and Jethro found their forever home together! Yay!

We rescued Marty (Feldman) from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Marty is the sweetest and happiest kitty! Total floppy lap cat who just wants to be loved and loved some more. But, poor Marty had some serious issues with his teeth and mouth that must have been plaguing him for a long time. He was in terrible pain when he ate… even eating very soft canned food threw him into writhing pain. After seeing him go through that just once, we knew we couldn’t leave Marty at the shelter. Burlington Animal Control called us for help when they were overloaded with small animals. We were happy to rescue Rick and Daryl the guinea pigs to help lessen the load there. Ladybirds visit Ralphy’s Retreat!
Ladybird’s ultimate goal is to have a property where we can house more cats, dogs and small animals, and where we can start rescuing farm animals. Before attaining that goal, we are visiting local sanctuaries to gather as much knowledge as we can and to learn from others who are already doing what we are so looking forward to! Today, Ladybird founders Lisa, Janine and Melissa visited Ralphy’s Retreat: Sanctuary for Pot-Bellied Pigs and Farm Animals and had a wonderful tour with founder Kara. Jewel
We rescued Jewel from Hamilton Animal Control where she ended up as a stray. What a little doll Jewel is! Sweet as can be and never stops purring! When she came into Hamilton Animal Control, she had severe diarrhea so she was started on some medications. Jewel was having a hard time keeping herself clean because she had been suffering from the runs for a long time, even before she came into the shelter. We rescued Buddy and Burrito from a high-volume shelter in Laval, Quebec. Because of ongoing health issues, Buddy and Burrito are now permanent residents of Ladybird, and will stay in their foster home for their remaining days. January 9th, 2016 Burrito passed away peacefully in his foster home. RIP Burrito!

*Mandy found her forever home with lovely people!* Ladybird rescued Mandy from Hamilton Animal Control. Her story before ending up at HAC is a sad one. A citizen walking down the street came upon a man sitting outside his house, trying to give away a kitten. The citizen was concerned, as the cat looked like it was in rough shape, so they decided to take her.
