* Mango found her forever home with wonderful people!* We rescued Mango from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Roberta
We rescued Roberta from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Roberta’s foster home reports that she is active and healthy, likes to play, and seems to like their cat. But…Roberta isn’t too thrilled about being handled or picked up. She probably didn’t have much interaction with people before coming to Ladybird. For this reason, Roberta needs a home with no small children, and with someone who will be patient, and understanding about her aversion to being handled. Frankie
** UPDATE – AUGUST 26th, 2015 – Frankie has been adopted! Woo hoo! ** We rescued Frankie from Burlington Animal Control where he ended up as a stray. Frankie was not happy being in a cage in the shelter, and showed his displeasure by being aggressive at the door of his kennel. The staff had a hard time with his disposition and the decision was made to euthanize him. We rescued Mimi and Kiki from a high-volume shelter in Laval, Quebec. They came into the shelter separately, but they became fast friends when introduced. Guinea Pigs do better in pairs or groups, so we are asking that they be adopted as a pair. Mimi and Kiki are sweet and curious guinea pigs. Mimi is the more adventurous of the pair, and Kiki is a bit shy, but still friendly. Children should be supervised at all times when handling guinea pigs. Hope
The Oakville and Milton Humane Society reached out to Ladybird when they were overwhelmed with rabbits in their shelter. Sometimes, the best laid rescue plans don’t go exactly the way we think they will! We made arrangements to rescue a pregnant cat who found herself at Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. Arrangements were made with the vet and foster home to pick her up from HAC on a Saturday afternoon. But this sweet girl decided to have her babies on Saturday morning! We rescued The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt from a GTA shelter. Due to a physical disability, the shelter was seeking an experienced home or rescue who was familiar with her condition and able to place her into foster care where the specifics of her special needs can be determined. Sterling
In May of 2015, we rescued Sterling from Hamilton Animal Control. Poor Sterling was brought into HAC by police when his owner was arrested. Unfortunately, no one came to claim him, despite initial calls to HAC saying someone was making arrangements to do so. We didn’t know what Sterling’s real name was, or anything about him other than he was really, really friendly and diabetic.
