Cricket

Cricket

Cricket is Ladybird’s 500th rescued animal! Woo hoo! We rescued Rena and her kittens Sammy, JonJon, Clara and Cricket from Hamilton Animal Control.  They were a little bit worse for wear from wherever they were living before they ended up at HAC. They all had diarrhea, and Rena was very dirty and had a lot of matting in her fur. But after a vet visit and some TLC from their foster mom, they are now ready to find their forever homes. Cricket’s foster mom reports that Cricket is a lovely and feisty boy with a very healthy appetite. Cricket found…   read more >>

But after a couple of vet visits and some TLC from their foster mom, they all recovered and are now clean and healthy and happy. All of Rena’s kittens have been adopted, and now it’s her turn! Fang

Fang

We rescued five wee kittens from Hamilton Animal Control where the ended up without their mother. Their foster mom did an amazing job helping them get healthy and happy and our vets have given them a clean bill of health. They’re ready to find their forever homes now! We ask that kittens be adopted with a sibling if there are no other animals in the adopter’s home. Kittens do much better in pairs when they have a friend to grow up with and share all the adventures in their forever home. Here’s a report from the kittens’ foster home: “Five…   read more >>

Morgan

Morgan adopted

We rescued this gorgeous Yellow-Naped Amazon parrot from Mississauga Animal Services. He came in as a stray with a band on his leg, but when M.A.S. traced the band, they came up with a dead end at the breeder information. M.A.S. posted Morgan on several lost pet websites, including ones specifically for parrots, but nobody came forward to claim him. Morgan is a sweet guy, as you can see from the videos, but he would do best in a home with someone who is experienced with parrots. Here’s a note from Morgan’s foster home: “We have had some wonderful experience…   read more >>

We rescued Sheldon from a high-volume shelter in Laval, Quebec. His foster home became his forever home. Yay!

Sunny

Sunny

We rescued Sunny, a Jenday Conure, from Mississauga Animal Services where he was brought in as a stray. We initially thought Sunny was female, but a DNA test has confirmed he is a boy! You can see in the video that Sunny likes to play with toys and he craves attention from his foster family. Sunny needs an adopter with parrot experience and someone who is home enough to give him the time and attention he needs. Sunny is pretty sweet, but like most parrots, he can be nippy at times. Sunny can be VERY loud when he wants to be,…   read more >>

Cosmo

Cosmo @ HAC

We rescued Cosmo from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Cosmo is a sweet guy who loves to rub and give head bonks. So cute! Cosmo had some health issues that needed to be treated before he was made available for adoption. But once he was feeling better he found his forever home! Yay Cosmo!

Sophia

Sophia

We rescued Sophia from Hamilton Animal Control. This poor senior kitty’s owner died and no next of kin or family came for her after she ended up at HAC. We don’t know her exact age, or even her real name, but we think Sophia suits her. (a little nod to the Golden Girls there!) Sophia was in rough shape with various issues when we rescued her, so we took her straight from HAC to the vet for assessment. She loves to give head bonks and was rubbing on our fingers that we had stuck in the carrier all the way…   read more >>

Barney

Barney

We rescued Barney from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up as a stray. He was already neutered and declawed when he was found, so somebody owned this sweet guy before he was abandoned. He had some kidney problems when he was first rescued, but they are much better now. To keep him healthy and free of issues, Barney needs to be on a vet prescribed diet called K/D for the rest of his life. Here’s what Barney’s foster mom has to say about him: “Barney is an exceptionally loving cat. He pretty much has 5 things that he does…   read more >>

McCartney

McCartney

McCartney was rescued from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. This handsome boy was very thin and bedraggled when we first rescued him. But his foster mom has done a great job getting him back to a healthy weight and has his coat looking fabulous again! Here’s a note from McCartney’s foster home: “McCartney was pretty bedraggled when I first picked him up after his neuter surgery, and you could tell he’d either been severely neglected by his owner or had been living on the mean streets of Hamilton for a while. Based on the size…   read more >>

Shorty

Shorty

We rescued Shorty from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Shorty is a sweet guy who was named for his 3/4 tail. So cute! Here’s a note from Shorty’s foster dad: “Shorty is one FUN cat, he’s also pretty smart but some people would say he’s all that and a bag of chips too! Everyone who pets Shorty goes on about how soft and healthy his coat is and I tell them “I know but his tummy is even softer.” Then they usually try to reach under to feel it and that’s when he just rolls…   read more >>

Bruno

Bruno

Ladybird rescued Darla, Danny, Boop and Bruno from a high-kill shelter in Laval, Quebec. Danny and Darla went to one foster home and Bruno and Boop went to another. They’ve all been spayed and neutered. Bruno and Boop took quite a while to bond during their introductions in their foster home. But they eventually became good friends, so we’d like them to be adopted as a pair. They are both lovely bunnies who don’t mind being handled. As with any rabbit though, children should be supervised while handling. Bruno has a particularly funny and sweet personality. He’s quite a character! Boop…   read more >>
