Darla

Darla

Ladybird rescued Darla, Danny, Boop and Bruno from a high-kill shelter in Laval, Quebec. Danny and Darla went to one foster home and Bruno and Boop went to another. They’ve all been spayed and neutered. Danny and Darla are available for adoption as a pair as they’ve become the best of friends in their foster home. They are both lovely bunnies who don’t mind being handled. As with any rabbit though, children should be supervised while handling. They enjoy a daily snack of a variety of things…apple, carrot, kale, romaine lettuce, celery, cucumber, broccoli and the like. And along with…   read more >>

Daisy

Daisy

We rescued Daisy from Burlington Animal Control. Under all that horribly matted fur is a sweet Shih Tzu mix who was signed over to B.A.C by her owners. She has a mammary tumour and some other lumps and bumps that need checking out…and she needs to be spayed. But first, that terrible matting needs to be taken care of with a shave down. Daisy is at the vet now, so we’ll send updates as they come in. Daisy will be available for adoption when she’s feeling better. Welcome to the Ladybird family Daisy! March 13th, 2015 Daisy had her surgery yesterday…she…   read more >>

Tulip

Tulip-photo by happytailspetphotography.ca

We rescued Tulip from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Tulip must have been outdoors without shelter as the tips of her ears were frost bitten when we rescued her, but they have healed up nicely. Here’s a note from Tulip’s foster mom: “So my foster mom wrote a nice bio about me but no one responded. She wrote a second bio, and still no one showed any interest in adopting me. I figure, I might as well just write one from my own perspective and hopefully it speaks to you and you will take a…   read more >>

Desi

Desi

We rescued Lucy and Desi from Hamilton Animal Control where they ended up as strays. These two are quite bonded and spent their time at the shelter snuggled up to each other for comfort. We don’t think they’re siblings, but they sure do love each other, so we’re asking that they be adopted as a pair. Here’s a note from their foster home: “These 2 are such loving babies. Lucy is very shy at first. Once past that, she loves to jump up into your arms, or onto the back of your shoulders, and this is at least a daily ritual….   read more >>

Monty

Monty @ foster

Meet Mister Monty! Monty came to us from Hamilton Animal Control when he was found wandering the streets in the awful cold of winter. He was immediately grateful to be in a warm and comfortable home, and what a sweet man he is indeed. Not only does he respect and ask politely before getting too close to the cats, he is a perfect gentleman on and off the leash. He is friendly with other dogs and and people we meet on our walks, and although he enjoys long rambling walks or jogs, he’s also happy to lazily lounge around the…   read more >>

Fancy

Fancy @ foster

We rescued Fancy from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray.  Fancy has some issues with her back legs (she walks a bit like a penguin), so we took her straight from HAC to the vet for tests and xrays. Turns our Fancy has a combination of severe hip dysplasia and luxating patellas. Because she is mobile (as you can see in the video) and doesn’t seem to be in any pain, surgery was not recommended. It’s likely surgery wouldn’t be beneficial because as she has grown, she has compensated for her condition. Fancy may develop arthritis later in life,…   read more >>

Santana

Santana

We rescued Santana from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Santana is a mega-love bug! He is affectionate and loving and is happiest when he’s snuggled up in a lap. He can be shy with strangers, but will eventually warm up with time. A quieter home without small children would be best for him. Here’s a note from Santana’s foster mom: “Let me tell you about Santana.First, he is a very handsome boy and he knows how to use his good looks to steal your heart. He loves to lie on his back, paws in the…   read more >>

Manny

Manny @ foster

We rescued Manny from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up after he was brought in by his owners by no fault of his own. Here’s a note from his foster home: “So, when I first met Manny, I thought, “Wow, that’s a lot of cat!” In fact, it was exactly 19.48lbs of cat and the size of a 20lb bag of potatoes. Today Manny is 18.89lbs and well, still looks as big as a 20lb bag of potatoes. Manny, had mats on his back. You couldn’t touch his shoulders, back or rump with out him protesting because the muscles were…   read more >>

Jupiter

Jupiter (photo by mmasonphotography.com)

We rescued Jupiter from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself after someone trapped him in their backyard. Jupiter was painfully thin when he came into HAC. He was only there for a few days before we rescued him, and he was already gaining a little bit of much needed weight. Despite his ordeal, Jupiter is an extra friendly kitty who is always purring and looking for some attention. January 27th, 2015 Jupiter’s foster mom called to tell us that Jupiter was feeling lethargic, not eating and vomiting frequently. We took him to the vet where he stayed for a…   read more >>

Truffle

Truffle

We rescued Truffle from a high-volume shelter in Laval, Quebec. Truffle is a very sweet guinea pig who enjoys ear and head scratches. Truffle will fall asleep on your lap or chest when you have him out for one on one time. He likes carrots, romaine lettuce, kale, apples and other fruit and veggies. He is especially fond of timothy hay, so his foster family is sure to always keep a constant supply in his cage. We suggest a large cage or pen for guinea pig living quarters. Most of the cages sold in pet stores are far too small. C & C…   read more >>

Pepsi

Pepsi

We rescued Pepsi from a high-volume shelter in Laval Quebec. Pepsi is a sweet rat, but he’s a bit shy, so he will need an adopter who is patient and preferably experienced with rats. We recommend a large cage with multi levels for our adoptable rats. Currently, Pepsi is being housed in a Critter Nation cage. These cages are a little more expensive, but they are high quality, spacious spaces for pets and are worth the extra money in the long run. Critter Nation cages can be found at most pet supply stores. www.critternation.net Please adopt Pepsi!

Pecan

Pecan

We rescued Pecan from a high-volume shelter in Laval Quebec. Pecan was adopted and is now friends with another Ladybird guinea pig named Martha!

Evan

Evan

* Evan found his forever home with a lovely family! * We rescued Evan from a high-volume shelter in Laval Quebec. He’s a sweet little guy, but he had obviously suffered an attack by another animal. His mouth was quite cut up and he had some chunks of skin and fur missing from his back. Evan saw the vet, was given medication and he is all healed up now! Evan’s foster home reports that he is getting more adventurous with time, and less skittish. He’s been spending some time on the couch with his foster family and is very interested in all the…   read more >>

Sylvia

Sylvia

Sometimes, rescues don’t turn out the way we hope them to. This is Sylvia. She was a stray cat, brought into Hamilton Animal Control with a severe injury and infection to her tail and back legs. We rescued Sylvia from HAC and took her straight to the vet. Upon examination, it was obvious that Sylvia’s tail needed to be amputated asap. The vet also thought Sylvia might be pregnant as she had a swollen belly. Because of the severity of Sylvia’s infection, the likelihood of the babies being alive inside her was very low. Sylvia was sedated, prepped for surgery…   read more >>

India

India

We rescued India from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. India came into HAC spayed and declawed so she once belonged to someone…but they never came looking for her if she was truly a lost cat. During India’s time with us, she has gone through two surgeries to remove a cancerous tumour and a benign tumour, dental surgery, litter box issues likely caused by the stress of everything she was going through, a severe illness caused by infection, and many, many (many, many!) vet appointments. But India came through on the other side with gusto! She’s…   read more >>
