Pancake

We rescued Pancake from a high-kill shelter in Quebec. He’s been neutered and is now ready to find his forever home! Pancake is a friendly and inquisitive rabbit. Like with most rabbits, Pancake isn’t a fan of being picked up, but he does like cuddles and behind-the-ear scratches. He enjoys time outside his enclosure, so his exploring space will have to be bunny proofed. Daily treats of romaine lettuce, kale, carrots, apple and other fruits and veggies are always welcomed. Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t… read more >>

Sky

We rescued Sky from Hamilton Animal Control. Why is her name Sky? Well, because she literally fell from it. Sky was found on a second floor balcony of a high-rise apartment building in Hamilton. She was clearly injured, so her fall must have been from several storeys up. Hamilton Animal Control was called and Sky was taken to the vet. The vet didn’t do any xrays to know for sure, but they suggested Sky might have a leg fracture, and other minor injuries. They prescribed pain medication and after staying at the clinic for the night, Sky was sent to HAC… read more >>

Norton

We rescued Norton from Hamilton Animal Control. Poor Norton had been at HAC since June! He was quite ill when he first came into HAC, and he’s not well socialized. He’s feeling better physically, but he’s still very shy and frightened of human contact. After some time in his foster home, it was obvious that Norton was not a fan of being handled and was beyond just being frightened. Though he doesn’t bite out of fear, it seems he’s had some trauma in his little life and he is petrified of everything around him. He’s in a large, spacious cage… read more >>
Lucille’s surgery

No matter how small, we strive to provide all of our rescued animals the best care they deserve. When Lucille the rat developed a lump, her foster mom took her to the vet for a check up, and it was decided the best course of action was to remove it. Our awesome vets did that surgery yesterday, and as you can see, Lucille is doing just fine post-op. Lucille will be taking some time to recover from her surgery, and when she’s healed, she and her sister Amélie will be made available for adoption again. We can’t provide this type… read more >>

Flynn

We rescued Flynn from Hamilton Animal Control where he had found himself as a stray. Flynn was very sick with an upper respiratory virus when he came into the shelter. The staff at HAC weren’t sure he would survive being so ill. They gave him the medication he needed and force fed him when he wouldn’t eat, and a couple of weeks later he was feeling better. To whoever stole our donation box from the counter at Dundas Pet Valu

To whoever stole our donation box from the counter at Dundas Pet Valu; we can only hope it was an act of utter desperation for you to sink as low as to steal from a charity. We don’t make a heck of a lot of money with our little donation boxes that are sprinkled at various locations around the city, but we have wonderful businesses who support us and promote what we do by having these boxes displayed in hopes of donations. It’s a nice thing they do for us, and your petty thievery has bummed us all out. We… read more >>
Norman

We rescued Norman from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. He’s such a handsome boy! After a short time in foster care, it was obvious that Norman was a cat who was used to being outdoors before he came to Ladybird. He could be a very nice cat, but was becoming aggressive and destructive when indoors. This behaviour got worse with time…it was as if his whole existence revolved around getting out. There was nothing we or our vets could do to deter him of this behaviour. Thankfully, some friends of Ladybird told us about a… read more >>
