Bubbles

We rescued Bubbles from Hamilton Animal Control. This sweet kitten has a neurological issue that makes one back leg a little wonky, but he’s otherwise healthy and happy. Our vets have advised us to give him some time to see if the leg will improve as he grows, so we will do just that. Here’s a bio, written by Bubbles’ foster mom: “It is with sadness in my heart that I am writing a bio for Bubbles.  I wish I could put it off but this little guy is doing so remarkably well (so quickly) that it would be selfish…   read more >>

Pansy

* Pansy and Posey found their forever home together with wonderful people! * Back in 2014, Ladybird rescued Posey and Pansy from Hamilton Animal Control where they found themselves as strays. They were too young to be adopted when they first came to us, but after some love and care from their foster mom, they grew strong and healthy and were adopted. Fast forward two years, and unfortunately (through no fault of their own), Pansy and Posey were returned to us and they are now back in Ladybird’s care. They are more than ready to find their forever home now! Here’s…   read more >>

Sparky

Ladybird rescued Sparky, Spanky, Spunky and Sparrow from Hamilton Animal Control where they found themselves as strays. Here’s a note from their foster mom about Sparky: “Sparky is a stunning black and white tuxedo boy that is extremely sweet and just a little love bug. He will cuddle with his siblings but once he connects with his foster mum look out – he wants lap time. Very sweet little boy that just purrs and purrs. Sparky was rescued with his siblings, Sparrow, Spanky and Spunky. They are all very sweet adorable affectionate kittens that are looking for that forever lap…   read more >>

Mini

Mini

We rescued BlackHock, Frisker, Sasha and Mini from Hamilton Animal Control where they found themselves without their mother, and far too young to be alone without her. They were quite ill with an upper respiratory virus at the shelter. They looked and felt awful. Thankfully we had a very experienced foster home who was willing to take on the challenge of these young, and very sick little kittens. It was touch and go for a bit, but with the help of our vets and their foster home, they all overcame their illness. Mini was adopted by lovely people! January 22, 2015…   read more >>

Porsche

Porsche adopted

The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued Porsche from Hamilton Animal Control where she ended up as a stray. She was wearing a licence and was microchipped, but the chip was not registered, and the person whose name was on the licence said they had given Porsche away and they didn’t have the new owner’s contact info. She was not doing well in her kennel at Hamilton Animal Control. She was so stressed and scared about being there, she wouldn’t even let us take her photo! Once she was out of the shelter and into her foster home, her true personality could…   read more >>

Lucille

Lucille

The Ladybird Animal Sanctuary rescued Amélie and Lucille from Hamilton Animal Control. They were part of the large rat rescue in November 2013. They were adopted in January 2014, but had to be returned to us in June of 2014 due to a new family member moving into the home who was allergic to them. Amélie & Lucille are a little bit shy, but they’re lovely girls once they get used to their surroundings. Amélie and Lucille would not be suitable for a home with small children. In November 2014, Lucille developed a lump and had surgery yesterday to remove it….   read more >>

Ladybirds visit Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary

June 2013 Ladybird’s ultimate goal is to have a property where we can house more cats, dogs and small animals, and where we can start rescuing farm animals. Before attaining that goal, we are visiting local sanctuaries to gather as much knowledge as we can and to learn from others who are already doing what we are so looking forward to! Today, Ladybird founders Lisa, Janine and Melissa visited Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary near London, Ontario. Cedar Row has been in existence since 1999, making it one of the oldest farm sanctuaries in Ontario. They have rescued thousands of animals over this…   read more >>
