Cosmo

We rescued Cosmo from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Cosmo is a sweet guy who loves to rub and give head bonks. So cute! Cosmo had some health issues that needed to be treated before he was made available for adoption. But once he was feeling better he found his forever home! Yay Cosmo!
Sophia

We rescued Sophia from Hamilton Animal Control. This poor senior kitty’s owner died and no next of kin or family came for her after she ended up at HAC. We don’t know her exact age, or even her real name, but we think Sophia suits her. (a little nod to the Golden Girls there!) Sophia was in rough shape with various issues when we rescued her, so we took her straight from HAC to the vet for assessment. She loves to give head bonks and was rubbing on our fingers that we had stuck in the carrier all the way… read more >>
Barney

We rescued Barney from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up as a stray. He was already neutered and declawed when he was found, so somebody owned this sweet guy before he was abandoned. He had some kidney problems when he was first rescued, but they are much better now. To keep him healthy and free of issues, Barney needs to be on a vet prescribed diet called K/D for the rest of his life. Here’s what Barney’s foster mom has to say about him: “Barney is an exceptionally loving cat. He pretty much has 5 things that he does… read more >>
McCartney

McCartney was rescued from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. This handsome boy was very thin and bedraggled when we first rescued him. But his foster mom has done a great job getting him back to a healthy weight and has his coat looking fabulous again! Here’s a note from McCartney’s foster home: “McCartney was pretty bedraggled when I first picked him up after his neuter surgery, and you could tell he’d either been severely neglected by his owner or had been living on the mean streets of Hamilton for a while. Based on the size… read more >>
Shorty

We rescued Shorty from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Shorty is a sweet guy who was named for his 3/4 tail. So cute! Here’s a note from Shorty’s foster dad: “Shorty is one FUN cat, he’s also pretty smart but some people would say he’s all that and a bag of chips too! Everyone who pets Shorty goes on about how soft and healthy his coat is and I tell them “I know but his tummy is even softer.” Then they usually try to reach under to feel it and that’s when he just rolls… read more >>
Bruno

Ladybird rescued Darla, Danny, Boop and Bruno from a high-kill shelter in Laval, Quebec. Danny and Darla went to one foster home and Bruno and Boop went to another. They’ve all been spayed and neutered. Bruno and Boop took quite a while to bond during their introductions in their foster home. But they eventually became good friends, so we’d like them to be adopted as a pair. They are both lovely bunnies who don’t mind being handled. As with any rabbit though, children should be supervised while handling. Bruno has a particularly funny and sweet personality. He’s quite a character! Boop… read more >>

Daisy

We rescued Daisy from Burlington Animal Control. Under all that horribly matted fur is a sweet Shih Tzu mix who was signed over to B.A.C by her owners. She has a mammary tumour and some other lumps and bumps that need checking out…and she needs to be spayed. But first, that terrible matting needs to be taken care of with a shave down. Daisy is at the vet now, so we’ll send updates as they come in. Daisy will be available for adoption when she’s feeling better. Welcome to the Ladybird family Daisy! March 13th, 2015 Daisy had her surgery yesterday…she… read more >>

Monty

Meet Mister Monty! Monty came to us from Hamilton Animal Control when he was found wandering the streets in the awful cold of winter. He was immediately grateful to be in a warm and comfortable home, and what a sweet man he is indeed. Not only does he respect and ask politely before getting too close to the cats, he is a perfect gentleman on and off the leash. He is friendly with other dogs and and people we meet on our walks, and although he enjoys long rambling walks or jogs, he’s also happy to lazily lounge around the… read more >>

Santana

We rescued Santana from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Santana is a mega-love bug! He is affectionate and loving and is happiest when he’s snuggled up in a lap. He can be shy with strangers, but will eventually warm up with time. A quieter home without small children would be best for him. Here’s a note from Santana’s foster mom: “Let me tell you about Santana.First, he is a very handsome boy and he knows how to use his good looks to steal your heart. He loves to lie on his back, paws in the… read more >>
Jupiter

We rescued Jupiter from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself after someone trapped him in their backyard. Jupiter was painfully thin when he came into HAC. He was only there for a few days before we rescued him, and he was already gaining a little bit of much needed weight. Despite his ordeal, Jupiter is an extra friendly kitty who is always purring and looking for some attention. January 27th, 2015 Jupiter’s foster mom called to tell us that Jupiter was feeling lethargic, not eating and vomiting frequently. We took him to the vet where he stayed for a… read more >>
Truffle

We rescued Truffle from a high-volume shelter in Laval, Quebec. Truffle is a very sweet guinea pig who enjoys ear and head scratches. Truffle will fall asleep on your lap or chest when you have him out for one on one time. He likes carrots, romaine lettuce, kale, apples and other fruit and veggies. He is especially fond of timothy hay, so his foster family is sure to always keep a constant supply in his cage. We suggest a large cage or pen for guinea pig living quarters. Most of the cages sold in pet stores are far too small. C & C… read more >>
Sylvia

Sometimes, rescues don’t turn out the way we hope them to. This is Sylvia. She was a stray cat, brought into Hamilton Animal Control with a severe injury and infection to her tail and back legs. We rescued Sylvia from HAC and took her straight to the vet. Upon examination, it was obvious that Sylvia’s tail needed to be amputated asap. The vet also thought Sylvia might be pregnant as she had a swollen belly. Because of the severity of Sylvia’s infection, the likelihood of the babies being alive inside her was very low. Sylvia was sedated, prepped for surgery… read more >>
India

We rescued India from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. India came into HAC spayed and declawed so she once belonged to someone…but they never came looking for her if she was truly a lost cat. During India’s time with us, she has gone through two surgeries to remove a cancerous tumour and a benign tumour, dental surgery, litter box issues likely caused by the stress of everything she was going through, a severe illness caused by infection, and many, many (many, many!) vet appointments. But India came through on the other side with gusto! She’s… read more >>
Updates updates updates!

Updates updates updates! This is a big one…here we go! Charlie! Surgery today was a success. Charlie’s teeth were so bad, the vet had to remove every last one of them. The infection was so advanced, it was going up into his nose. Poor guy must have been in a lot of pain for a long time! While he was under anesthetic, the vet neutered him and removed the growth over his eye. It was a tough surgery, but he’s recovering well. He’ll stay at the clinic for a few days to be sure everything is okay. The staff also discovered… read more >>
Mister Wendal

We rescued Mister Wendal from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Here’s a note from Mister Wendal’s foster mom: “OMCG! Oh my cuddly goodness! When I heard Mr. Wendal was at Animal Control with a ‘caution’ note on his cage I couldn’t believe it. While he is a tabby that never gets that ‘happy cat’ look on his face (you know that blissed out, too much food/milk look) don’t let that fool you, he is happy all the time. He has a permanent circle embedded in the fur around his neck from someone leaving a collar… read more >>
