January’s rescue

Meet January. She was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Control. We rescued her from there and she spent two days at the vet because she was in such rough shape. January has been neglected and malnourished for quite some time. She is painfully thin, matted and very dirty. She has some minor issues that the vet prescribed medication for, and she now has a safe and warm foster home where she can regain her health. It will be a long road for January, but because of folks like you who support what we do, we were able… read more >>

We rescued these two lovelies from Hamilton Animal Control yesterday! Molly and Ruby were spayed this morning and they’re now busy checking out the new surroundings in their foster homes. They will both be available for adoption soon… Lastly for today…we… read more >>

Teddy’s rescue day!

We rescued Teddy today! This sweet old boy found himself at Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. He’s probably around 12 years old, has rotten teeth, a heart murmur, his ears were packed with dirt, his nails were so long that they curled under his pads, and he was in desperate need of a grooming (i.e. he had a lot of matting and a poopy bum!) But he saw the vet and groomer today and now he’s safe and warm in his foster home, on his way to feeling better! Thanks to everyone who has supported us this year…. read more >>

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who donated towards Dixie’s surgery. We have reached our goal! You guys are the best! Now…we need your help for another surgery; Penny’s dental work. We thought Penny’s eye would have to be removed due to the injury it had sustained, but our vets were able to save it and her eye has healed nicely. They discovered though, that whatever damaged her eye, also knocked out one of her K9 teeth right at the gum line, and the tooth is now infected. So Penny has a surgery tomorrow to remove the tooth. You can donate to… read more >>
Tabitha’s recovery

After many vet visits, medications and force feeding, Tabitha is finally feeling better after her ordeal with being sick and losing her kittens. Tabitha’s foster home did an amazing job nursing her back to health, and it shows! She’s eating well, her fur is shiny and soft, and she’s come out of her shell to show her super friendly personality! Tabitha will be spayed in the next couple of weeks and then she will be available for adoption. She certainly deserves a forever home after all she’s been through. Big thanks to Tabitha’s foster moms for all their time and effort!… read more >>

Today’s rescued kittens
Here are today’s rescued kittens, Jack, Jessie and Julie! They’ll be available for adoption soon…
A little movie about Ladybird!

A busy day today! We had Sheridan students along for a rescue so they could film it for a short documentary they’re making about Ladybird. They joined us at the shelter to pick up the kittens, to the vet for the kitten’s check up and all the way to Toronto to the foster home! This is the students interviewing the foster mom with one of her new kittens. We’ll debut the finished documentary at our fundraiser on December 14th, and we’ll post it here after that. Today was a fun day for all… but mostly for the three kittens who… read more >>
Penny update

Penny had a vet appointment today to recheck her eye. It’s healing nicely, but she still needs a few more weeks of treatment to heal fully. The vet discovered today that one of her K9 teeth is broken. It is likely that this tooth was broken off at the same time she sustained her eye injury. We’ll never know for sure what happened to poor Penny, but we do know it was not very pleasant! Penny’s broken tooth will need to be removed because it is infected. We could really use your donations now to help with Penny’s care. Penny… read more >>

Chillin’ at the vet

Gizmo was back at the vet this morning for some more tests. She is likely diabetic, so we’re working with our vets to figure out the best treatment for her. She certainly doesn’t mind being at the clinic as you can see from this photo! Such a sweet girl… Click the “Donate Now” button to help us with Gizmo’s vet bills. We receive no government funding, and can’t do this without you!

Senior cat rescue
We rescued Gizmo and Lucy today! These two seniors were left at Animal Control with two other cats after their owner passed away. Another local rescue organization took in the other two cats, and thankfully, we had a foster home at the ready who prefers senior cats. Gizmo is 11 years old and Lucy is 13. Thank you so much to the foster home who took in these sweet old girls. They still have so much love to give, even in their twilight years.
