Sailor
Sailor was brought into Hamilton Animal Services after his owner passed away. It’s not known how long Sailor was alone in the apartment after his owner died, but the state of the apartment and the condition of his cage were both very unpleasant. Poor Sailor had plucked his chest and, and his nails were overgrown when he got to the shelter.
We were happy to spring Sailor out of the shelter and he went straight to the vet for a health check and a DNA test to confirm his gender. The test confirmed that he is male.
Sailor will spend some time in his foster home where we can get to know him, and where hopefully he will begin to heal from his ordeal. Poor little bird has been through a lot.
When he’s ready, Sailor will be made available for adoption.
Welcome to Ladybird, Sailor! We’re so happy you’re here!
March 17/24 UPDATE
Our sweet Sailor continued to pluck himself after arriving to his foster home. So much so that he opened up a large wound. He had surgery to repair it, and thankfully surgery went well. He wore a bird specific collar right after surgery to keep him from opening up the wound again, and when he went back to his foster home, he was fitted with a little vest to keep him safe and comfortable.
We hope Sailor will heal well so that he can start the search for his forever home when he’s ready.
We love you, Sailor!
