Dixie was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services when her owner passed away and no family were able to keep her. Dixie’s owner had raised her since birth, so losing her owner and ending up at a shelter must have been quite scary and overwhelming for her. We were able to get Dixie out of the shelter when a loving foster home become available. On her rescue day, Dixie had a vet visit where she had dental surgery to remove a few rotten teeth.
Despite the “unimpressed” look on Dixie’s face, everyone who met Dixie at the shelter and the vet clinic commented on how sweet she is. She’s always got her purr on and is very accepting of pets and scritches.

When Dixie is healed from her dental surgery, she’ll be made available for adoption. We’re hoping that she finds a loving forever home where she can live out her days in safety, with cozy places to nap, and maybe a window that she can watch the world from.
