Hitchcock

Hitch
STATUS: Adoptable AGE AT ARRIVAL: Approximately 6 weeks old ARRIVAL DATE: October 24th, 2023 SPECIES: Cat BREED: Domestic Medium Hair GENDER: Neutered Male ADOPTION FEE: $350 for the pair (what is included?)

Hitchcock (aka Hitch) was found in a barn and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. He was dragging his back let and his underside was extremely bruised. It’s not known what causes these injuries, but speculation is that he was kicked or somehow crushed. We got Hitch out of the shelter and straight to the vet. He was started on pain medication and he’ll have xrays and an ultrasound to be sure there are no internal injuries.
This kitten has already been through so much in his short life, but he is still a sweet and friendly little thing. We’ll keep you posted on Hitch’s progress during his stay at the vet. We’re hopeful for this little trooper.

Welcome to Ladybird, Hitch! We’re so happy you’re here!

UPDATE November 1st 2023

Our sweet Hitch is doing very well! An ultrasound showed no internal injuries, and a specialist who reviewed the xrays confirmed that there are no fractures. Our vet and the specialist agreed that Hitch’s leg immobility is from neurological/nerve damage caused by whatever trauma it was that happened to him. From this point, it will be a waiting game to see if he gains movement back in the leg, or if it will need to be removed. So, he’ll be with his foster family for an extended period of time under observation. Thankfully, wee Hitch isn’t feeling any pain, and he is doing all the things kittens his age do. And he’s extra super-duper chill and loving. Such a special little kitten!

Go Hitch!

* November 14th, 2023 UPDATE *
Hitchcock is doing great in his foster home. He’s made friends with the other cats there, and he’s being a very active little guy. He hasn’t gained any movement back in his leg that his foster family can tell, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. Hitchcock has a vet appointment soon where we can get a better idea of where he’s at with the leg, and where we can discuss next steps.

Go Hitchcock!

* December 18th, 2023 UPDATE *
Hitchcock has made great strides since coming into our care back in October. For the first while, we weren’t sure if his injured let would need to be amputated, but look at him now!
Hitch is scheduled to be neutered in January, and he’ll be available for adoption once he’s healed.

Go, Hitchcock! You’re a superstar!

* January 1st, 2023 UPDATE *
A little secret we’ve been keeping. Hitch and Tuesday have been in the same foster home, and after slow and patient introductions, they are now best friends! Big thank you to Hitch and Tuesday’s foster family for taking such great care of them individually, and for taking all the steps to insure a successful bond between them.
Hitch and Tuesday will be available for adoption soon…as a pair! 🙂

* January 10th, 2024 UPDATE *
Tuesday and Hitch are ready to find their forever home!
Both cats are healthy, happy, and healed from their surgeries. Because of Hitch’s leg injury, adopters should be prepared for him to possibly develop arthritis in the future, but it’s not an immediate concern.
Here’s a note from their foster family:
A great duo, Hitch & Tuesday are the perfect pair. They get along great with each other and with our other cats. Hitch has a full battery that drains quickly. He loves to play hard before settling in for long nap – ideally under a mountain of blankets. This cuddly guy will let you know when he’s ready to be picked up to sit on your lap. He’s not shy about getting your attention. Tuesday offsets Hitch’s energy slightly. She prefers to start her day playing with Hitch before finding a nice nap spot. She loves her food and is always curious what’s cooking in the kitchen. Hitch can get a bit growly when it comes to his food, but he doesn’t lash out or get aggressive. Thankfully, Tuesday isn’t phased by this one bit.
These two will be hard to say goodbye to. They’re going to be making someone very happy.

Please adopt Tuesday and Hitch!
