Saffy

Saffy

Saffy ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a very sick stray. She had her two very young kittens with her, one of which had passed away by the time they got to the shelter. The other baby was so sick, he was beyond help. The poor little one was humanely euthanized to end his suffering. The shelter started Saffy on medication to help her through her severe respiratory illness, and with time, she thankfully recovered. No owner came forward to claim Saffy, despite her being at the shelter for an extended period of time. When a foster home opened…   read more >>

Melanie

Melanie

Mylie and Melanie were surrendered to a Quebec shelter, but we were not told the reason why. We were happy to take these two sweet babies in, and they came to us by way of One Last Chance, and Freedom Drivers volunteers. We’re very thankful for all the wonderful people who donate their time to transport rescued animals all across the country. Mylie and Melanie are sweet rats, but a little shy. Shortly after their arrival to their foster home, they were already exploring their enclosure and stashing away their snacks for later. Mylie and Melanie have a vet visit…   read more >>

Sheamus

Sheamus

Sheamus came to Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. No owner came forward to claim him, so Ladybird was happy to spring this sweet boy from the shelter when a loving foster home opened up. While in shelter, staff noticed that one of his front feet was a bit wonky. The had an x-ray done, which appeared to show nothing conclusive. On Sheamus’ rescue day we had the vet do another x-ray on his ankle to find out what was ‘afoot’ with his foot. Luckily it showed no fracture and they believe he may have had a puncture wound at…   read more >>

Brody

After being hit by a car, Brody was picked up by Hamilton Animal Services. They took Brody to the vet where he stayed for his stray time. No owner came forward to claim him, so shelter staff reached out to us for help. We were happy to take this poor boy in, and he was transferred to one of our affiliate vet clinics on his rescue day. X-rays revealed a slight fracture in Brody’s jaw, but it is in a spot that will likely heal without surgery. Brody is eating on his own (a great sign) and is on pain…   read more >>

Sailor

Sailor @ HAS

Sailor was brought into Hamilton Animal Services after his owner passed away. It’s not known how long Sailor was alone in the apartment after his owner died, but the state of the apartment and the condition of his cage were both very unpleasant. Poor Sailor had plucked his chest and, and his nails were overgrown when he got to the shelter. We were happy to spring Sailor out of the shelter and he went straight to the vet for a health check and a DNA test to confirm his gender. The test confirmed that he is male. Sailor will spend…   read more >>
