Sheamus

Sheamus

Sheamus came to Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. No owner came forward to claim him, so Ladybird was happy to spring this sweet boy from the shelter when a loving foster home opened up. While in shelter, staff noticed that one of his front feet was a bit wonky. The had an x-ray done, which appeared to show nothing conclusive. On Sheamus’ rescue day we had the vet do another x-ray on his ankle to find out what was ‘afoot’ with his foot. Luckily it showed no fracture and they believe he may have had a puncture wound at…   read more >>

Brody

Brody-photo by Luca Simpson

After being hit by a car, Brody was picked up by Hamilton Animal Services. They took Brody to the vet where he stayed for his stray time. No owner came forward to claim him, so shelter staff reached out to us for help. We were happy to take this poor boy in, and he was transferred to one of our affiliate vet clinics on his rescue day. X-rays revealed a slight fracture in Brody’s jaw, but it is in a spot that will likely heal without surgery. Brody is eating on his own (a great sign) and is on pain…   read more >>

Darla

Darla

Darla came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. She had a microchip, but when shelter staff traced the chip and called the number, the person stated that they lost Darla thirteen years ago and they assumed coyotes had gotten her. Darla’s original owner was not interested in taking her back. We’ll never know where Darla has been for those thirteen years, but if someone else had been taking care of her, that person didn’t come forward to claim her. Darla is the sweetest girl. Very friendly with a purr that never shuts off. We got her out of the…   read more >>

Harbour

Harbour

Harbour was found in a field in Ancaster and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. She was extremely thin, infested with fleas, and wasn’t putting weight on her back leg. Shelter staff treated Harbour for the fleas, and sent her to the vet for xrays. No fractures or any other reason for her lameness was seen on the xrays, so Harbour was sent back to the shelter to wait out her stray time. Poor Harbour didn’t want to eat, and her gums were very pale. Over the week she was at the shelter, her health went downhill. Being a municipal shelter,…   read more >>

Tuesday

Tuesday

On Giving Tuesday, an injured kitten was brought into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. Her tail had been degloved, and she had an injury to her back leg. It’s not known how these injuries happened, but we are thankful that HAS reached out to us right away so we could get this kitten immediate vet care. We had received many generous donations during the day, and we decided an appropriate name for this little one would be Tuesday. Thankfully, Tuesday doesn’t have any fractures, and the injury to her leg doesn’t seem too serious. Unfortunately though, Tuesday’s tail injury…   read more >>

Arthur

Arthur Christmas

We rescued Arthur from Hamilton Animal Services where he ended up as a stray. No owner came forward to claim him, despite him being at the shelter for more than a month. While at the shelter, Arthur had blood testing done that revealed he was FIV positive. He’s not showing any symptoms of the virus though, which is great. He does, unfortunately, have a large mass on his neck that the shelter was not able to have checked out, due to financial constraints and the huge number of cats currently at the shelter. Because Arthur had two strikes against him,…   read more >>

Hitchcock

Hitch

Hitchcock (aka Hitch) was found in a barn and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. He was dragging his back let and his underside was extremely bruised. It’s not known what causes these injuries, but speculation is that he was kicked or somehow crushed. We got Hitch out of the shelter and straight to the vet. He was started on pain medication and he’ll have xrays and an ultrasound to be sure there are no internal injuries. This kitten has already been through so much in his short life, but he is still a sweet and friendly little thing. We’ll keep…   read more >>

Katsura

Katsura

Katsura ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. She is microchipped, but the chip was not traceable. This is your reminder to keep your pet’s microchip info up to date with the chip company! If you move or change your phone number without letting the company know, they won’t be able to contact you if your pet is lost or stolen. When Katsura arrived at the shelter, her ears were full of debris and they were very itchy. Her abdomen was distended, and her spine was prominent. Because of the overwhelming number of cats…   read more >>
