Ladybird recommends Critter Nation cages. They are hands down the most…   read more >>

Mango

Mango

* Mango found her forever home with a wonderful person and another guinea pig to be friends with! Yay! * Someone dumped Mango in a park in Hamilton. Thankfully, a kind citizen found her and brought her to Hamilton Animal Services. Please, please, please, if you don’t want a pet anymore, don’t release it outdoors. Mango was one of the lucky ones who survived being abandoned, but not all animals are so lucky. Domestic animals don’t have the survival skills that wild animals do. They often starve to death, or are killed by predators. There is always an alternative to…   read more >>

Wilhelm

Wilhelm

We’re so sad. Our sweet Wilhelm passed away. He was doing really well the days after his dental surgery, and we were excited for him to recover and finally be able to eat without trouble and pain. But he then became quiet and didn’t want to eat. Despite medication, supplemental feeding, and advice from our vets, Wilhelm went downhill quickly, and he passed away during the night. We are devastated. An autopsy showed that Wilhelm’s stomach had twisted, which is an unfortunate condition that guinea pigs can suffer from without warning. Our hearts go out to Wilhelm’s foster family, and…   read more >>

Michele

Michele

* Romy and Michele found their forever home with lovely people! Woo hoo! * Romy and Michele were found as strays and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. These poor kittens were covered in lice, they were infested with fleas and their ears were full of earmites. To top it off, they both had an upper respiratory infection and were sneezing their little heads off. Shelter staff got them cleaned up and started on medications to treat each ailment. Romy and Michele’s health greatly improved during their stay at the shelter. When a foster home opened up, we were happy to…   read more >>

Ivy

Ivy

* Poppy and Ivy found their forever home together with wonderful people! Woot! * Burger, Cleo, Ivy and Poppy were brought into Hamilton Animal Services as strays. They were quite sick when they arrived, and had severe diarrhea. The shelter reached out to us for help, and we were able to pick these wee ones up and get them straight to the vet for treatment. Medication and special food were prescribed, and thankfully a foster home stepped up to take in the little litter. Fostering poopy kittens is a lot of work, and we’re so grateful for our foster families…   read more >>

Sorbet

Sorbet

* Sorbet found her forever home with a lovely person! Yay! * Sorbet was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. She spent a few months at the shelter, but nobody came forward to claim her and nobody wanted to adopt her because of her shy nature. A noisy shelter environment is no place for a kitty who is having a hard time trusting people. She was friendly with the shelter staff she was familiar with, and she’d come to them for head scritches and pats. HAS reached out to us for help and we were happy…   read more >>

Mrs. Lop

Mrs. Lop

* Mrs. Lop found her forever home with awesome people! Yippee! * Mrs. Lop was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. When she arrived, she was very thin, was missing a lot of fur on her underside, and had other issues with her skin. We got Mrs. Lop to the vet and she stayed there for a few days to start her recovery. She was given a flea/tick/mite treatment, which seems to have taken care of some of the skin issues. Though we’ll never know for sure, it’s possible Mrs. Lop’s advanced fur loss was caused…   read more >>

Arthur

Arthur Christmas

We rescued Arthur from Hamilton Animal Services where he ended up as a stray. No owner came forward to claim him, despite him being at the shelter for more than a month. While at the shelter, Arthur had blood testing done that revealed he was FIV positive. He’s not showing any symptoms of the virus though, which is great. He does, unfortunately, have a large mass on his neck that the shelter was not able to have checked out, due to financial constraints and the huge number of cats currently at the shelter. Because Arthur had two strikes against him,…   read more >>

Saltine

* Saltine has been adopted by her foster mom! Yippee! * Saltine was brought to Hamilton Animal Services after being found outside. No owner came forward to claim him, and we were happy to get him out of the shelter and into a foster home when one opened up. Saltine had a health check at the vet on his rescue day, and other than a cataract in one eye, he is a healthy hamster. There’s no treatment needed for the cataract, but his adopters would need to be aware that he is blind in that eye. Saltine is now settling…   read more >>

Brooklyn

Brooklyn

* Brooklyn found her forever home with a wonderful person! Woo hoo! * Brooklyn came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. She spent just over a month at the shelter, and when a foster home opened up we were happy to bring her into our care. Brooklyn told us how very happy she was to be out of a cage by doing lots of stretching, head bonking and rolling. Such a sweet kitty! We got Brooklyn into the vet on her rescue day, and she received a clean bill of health. She was spayed a…   read more >>

Pumpkin

Pumpkin

* Pumpkin has been adopted by his foster family! Yay! * Pumpkin ended up at Hamilton Animal Services when his owner passed away. When he arrived to the shelter, he was suffering from en eye issue called entropion, which is a condition in where a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward against the eyeball. On top of that, Pumpkin tested positive for FIV. Between those two issues, and the number of cats at the shelter at a critical level, Pumpkin’s chances of getting out of the shelter alive were slim. Thankfully, a foster home opened up and…   read more >>
