Avocado

Avocado

* Margarita and Avocado found their forever home together with wonderful people! Woo hoo! * Guacamole, Agave, Margarita, and Avocado were rescued from Hamilton Animal Services. They all arrived at the shelter as strays at different times and were not claimed. We were happy to get all four birds out of the shelter and into a loving foster home. They’ve been put together in a large cage, and they’re very happy to have each other for company. In the wild, budgies live and migrate in large flocks, so a single budgie can get quite lonely. These lovely birds were given…   read more >>

Katsura

Katsura

Katsura ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. She is microchipped, but the chip was not traceable. This is your reminder to keep your pet’s microchip info up to date with the chip company! If you move or change your phone number without letting the company know, they won’t be able to contact you if your pet is lost or stolen. When Katsura arrived at the shelter, her ears were full of debris and they were very itchy. Her abdomen was distended, and her spine was prominent. Because of the overwhelming number of cats…   read more >>

Rupert

Rupert

*Rupert has been adopted by his foster family! Woo hoo! * Rupert and his guinea pig companion were “found” in Hamilton, and their finder brought them to a local pet supply store to get help. Unfortunately, Rupert’s companion passed away by the time Hamilton Animal Services was called to pick them up. At the shelter, poor Rupert was terrified. Who knows what trauma he had gone through before being dumped, only then to go through the heartache of losing his friend, and then ending up all alone at a noisy shelter. We were so happy that an experienced foster family…   read more >>

Gracie

Gracie @ foster

* Gracie found her forever home with lovely people! Yay! * Gracie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed. Shelter staff found out that her previous owner had given her away, so it was the new owners who hadn’t claimed her. Gracie’s previous owner gave the shelter Gracie’s name, her approximate age (12), and explained that Gracie’s eye had been removed because of injuries caused by another dog. We don’t know any of the circumstances beyond that. When Gracie arrived at the shelter, she was matted, she was covered in lumps and bumps, her teeth…   read more >>

Monty

Monty

Monty came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. Serious signs of neglect were present when he arrived, including extreme matting and open sores on several parts of his body, some of which had maggots in them. He must have been feeling so awful, but he was extremely friendly with all the shelter staff. While Monty waited for his owners to come looking for him (which they never did), he tolerated shelter staff cleaning up his wounds and giving him lots of love and attention. During the weeks he spent at the shelter, staff noted that Monty didn’t have a…   read more >>

Patton

* After four happy years as a permanent resident, sweet Patton passed away in the loving arms of his forever foster family. When his physical and cognitive health issues got to be too much, Patton told his family he was ready, and they loved him right until the end. We want to thank Patton’s forever foster family for taking such great care of this little guy for so long. We know it wasn’t always easy, but we know he would have thanked you himself if he could. Tammy

Tammy rescue day

We are sad to report that Tammy lost her fight, only four days after coming into our care. Despite supplemental feeding, medical treatment and around the clock care, Tammy, Tony, and Tiffany passed away one by one during the night. It’s suspected they had panleukopenia, but test results haven’t yet come back to confirm that. We are heartbroken. Thankfully, mama Tina’s health is improving and her diarrhea has mostly subsided. She’ll need a few more days at the vet before she can be moved to a foster home. We want to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Stubbs and…   read more >>

Ethel

* Ethel found her forever home with a lovely person! Yay! * Ethel was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services when her owner could no longer look after her. Poor Ethel was very frightened in the shelter, but staff did their best to make her feel comfortable during her stay. We were happy to get Ethel out of the shelter and into a foster home when one became available. She’s a shy girl, but has been slowly warming up to her foster mom. Ethel had a much needed dental cleaning, and she had a couple of small warts removed from her…   read more >>
